KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Senator P. Waytha Moorthy says he too shares the grief experienced by the family of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, who succumbed to the injuries suffered in the riot at a temple in Subang Jaya last month.
Muhammad Adib was pronounced dead at 9.41 Monday night at the National Heart Institute (IJN) here.
Waytha Moorthy described the 24-year-old as a brave and credible fireman who served the nation with full dedication.
The police, he said, were working hard to make sure the culprits of this heinous crime would be brought to justice swiftly.
“I wish to offer my deepest condolences to Muhammad Adib’s family…I share their grief and the whole nation mourns with this family in this tough time,” he said in a statement issued early yesterday.
In urging everyone to say a prayer for Muhammad Adib, the minister, who is in charge of national unity and social wellbeing, drew attention to the fact that the country’s social fabric was built on the unity and peace enjoyed by everyone for such a long time.
Muhammad Adib suffered serious injuries in the riot at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple in USJ25, Subang Jaya, on Nov 27 when he joined an operation to put out a fire in front of the premises.
Meanwhile, Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo described the fireman’s demise as a sad incident for all Malaysians.
“My deepest condolences to the family of Muhammad Adib and to all firemen. This is a sad news for all Malaysians.
“May we all find strength together during this difficult time,” Gobind said in a posting on his Twitter account.- Bernama
