KUCHING: Plans to develop a Tanjung Embang Deep Sea Port and a new Kuching International Airport will attract significant private sector investments, which are essential for diversifying the state’s economy.
In stating this Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abg Hipni said public-private partnerships are crucial to drive Sarawak’s development.
Towards this end he said the integration of sustainable energy solutions into these projects was important to ensure Sarawak’s growth is both innovative and environmentally responsible.
“Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari’s Tun Openg vision sets a clear path toward a resilient and inclusive economic future,” in expressing support for these initiatives.
“By leveraging Sarawak’s natural resources, digital innovation, and expertise in renewable energy, we are creating a solid foundation for long-term prosperity,” he said.
Hazland also acknowledged the strategic importance of enhancing Sarawak’s connectivity to the Asean region and beyond.
“The Tanjung Embang Deep Sea Port and the expanded Kuching International Airport will position Sarawak as a critical player in the regional and global trade network.
“These developments will unlock opportunities for trade, tourism, and international collaboration,” he added.
He said the Ministry is fully committed to supporting these initiatives, particularly in areas related to renewable energy integration and environmental stewardship.
“These transformative infrastructure projects not only strengthen Sarawak’s connectivity and economic positioning but also align seamlessly with our broader strategy to integrate renewable energy, particularly hydrogen and gas, into the state’s economy,” he said.
“These projects mark the beginning of a new chapter for Sarawak, and we are determined to ensure their success,” he said.
