KUCHING: Minor rural project (MRP) cheques were presented to various organisations and associations by Assistant Minister of Community Wellbeing Datuk Francis Harden Hollis on Thursday.
At the Simanggang Community Service Centre, MRP cheques were presented to 27 organisations, involving a total sum of RM170,000.
At the same time, Harden, who is also Simanggang assemblyman, visited five longhouses while presenting MRP cheques to nine Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) and three Women Bureaus, with a total sum of RM43,000.
Commitment accompanied by efforts to go to the ground to meet grassroots is nothing new for him. The people are well aware of his approach and he is well-known for his friendliness and diligence.
All organisations are urged to prepare all required documents to facilitate processing for MRP funds.
The approach of going to the ground enables Harden to see for himself the progress of Rural Transformation Projects (RTPs) which have been approved for construction.
The infrastructure projects include road constructions, electricity supply, clean water supply and bridges.
Another objective of his rounds at each destination was to explain the policies of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in leading the state government as well as looking into the wellbeing of the people in the hope of realising the vision of Sarawak becoming a developed state by 2030.
