SIBU: The people of Rumah Akat Akong, an Iban longhouse at Penasu here, were very excited and happy to welcome dignitaries on September 15 (Tuesday).

During the event, they were given a talk on the ‘Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Compliance and Enforcement’ by the police as well as a ‘Covid-19 Prevention Talk’ in conjunction with the ‘New Normal Culture Programme: Break Chain of Covid-19’. 

Secretary-general of the Communications and Multimedia Ministry, Datuk  Suriani Datuk  Ahmad was present .

Also present were the deputy director-general of the Information Department of Malaysia (JaPen), Datuk Sukari Ab Hamid, deputy director-general (digital content), Hashim Bedu and State Information director, Swady Guliling.

One of the longhouse folk,  Nami  was very happy that the dignitaries came to the longhouse.  

“From the talks, we know more about the Covid-19 virus and know how to prevent it from spreading further,” she said.

Nami urged everyone to play their part in helping to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“Following the new normal is not easy. It needs everyone’s cooperation,” she said.
