KUCHING: 176 students were among those who received alms from Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad (Bank Rakyat) yesterday.
Federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri spoke at the Zakat Bank Rakyat contribution ceremony in Batang Sadong and praised the bank for its contributions.
“Thankfully, we were also able to share what the bank had earned as a result of what the people had saved in it,” she explained.
According to her, the 176 eligible students’ data were obtained from their schools and various parties.
“For your information, the bank conducted a thorough research to determine who were eligible for the contributions,” she said.
During the speech, she thanked the bank for collecting the names of recipients from Sadong Jaya (86), Simunjan (57), and Gedong’s (35) primary and secondary school students.
“I wish you all Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin,” she concluded.
