MUKAH: Haisah Seruji was adjudged champion of a village vegetable cooking competition held at Kampung Sungai Ragei here, recently.

The first and second runners-up were Sapiah Hussin and Rosni Sulong, respectively.

The competition was held to celebrate Mother’s Day.
The contest organiser received encouraging response from the locals.
The three consolation prize winners were Soraya Mohamad, Sebariah Punai and Halida Maulid.

Organised by the Federation of Women Institutes Sarawak (PPWS) Mukah/Dalat/Balingian Branch in collaboration with PPWS Seroja Branch, the Mother’s Day celebration was officiated by a Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Faridah Osman.

Meanwhile, in the Traditional Cake(Kuih Bingka) making competition, the winner was Sapiah Hussin, second spot went to Soraya Mohamad, with third won by Halida Mohidin.

The event also saw two contestants, Hasnah Bakar and Sabariah Kunai, walked away with the consolation prizes.

In her speech at the function, Faridah considered it as an appropriate platform to appreciate the priceless contribution of the mothers to the family, community and even the state and nation.

She also believed such event could also consolidate the family institution and at the same fostering closer rapports among the audience of the day.

Also seen at the colourful program were PPWS Mukah/Dlat/Balingian Branch Chairman, Fatimah Narawi, Penghulu of the area, Besiri Keri, Village Chief, Mohamad Kassim and the members of the women institutes.
