KUCHING: Graduates are encouraged to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) and new data.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg emphasised the growing need for professionals skilled in data separation and accumulation.
“AI actually is not art. I was told that this data is basically algorithms plus mathematics. You accumulate all the data, that’s why you can get the answer.
“And there are certain segments of the data that we need expertise to separate and to combine all these data,” he said during Centre for Excellence Technology Sarawak (CENTEXS)’s 9th Convocation Ceremony at E-Sports and Multipurpose Hall, CENTEXS Kuching, Jalan Sungai Tengah, Santubong here today.
Abang Johari added that there is another part of IT that requires people to be involved in the data separation and data accumulation.
“That will provide the new way we live in the future. With this new technology, with the help of AI, you can analyse and retrieve the strategic information for you to move forward. In other words, we want creative mind. And CENTEXS will also go towards that,” he added.
Earlier, he said that in synergy with government direction and the upskilling and reskilling of talent, CENTEXS has received overwhelming demand by various agencies along with industries to address talent shortages in the present and future workforce.
“In particular, the new economy, that is digital economy, green economy, circular economy and now we are exploring space economy,” he said.
At the event, Abang Johari also officiated the launch of CENTEXS Rocket Saturn V Replica and Aerospace Academy Dua.
Also present were Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin; Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn; State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; CENTEXS chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani; chief executive officer(CEO) Datuk Syeed Mohd Hussien Wan Abdul Rahman, and other members of the CENTEXS board.
