THE government has taken note of the recommendation to upgrade Daro and Belaga as new divisional administration areas and Tubau as a new sub-district administrative centre in Belaga.

Minister in the Premier’s Department (Native Laws and Customs) Datuk John Sikie Tayai said the government has not had a proposal to upgrade these areas.

He added that the delivery of government services for the community in the areas would continue to be managed by the administration of the existing divisions and sub-districts respectively.

“The government takes note of the recommendations raised by Safiee Ahmad (GPS-Daro) and Kennedy Chukpai Ugon (GPS-Murum), and will continue to be committed to strengthening the service machinery in the administration in every division, district and sub-district throughout the state of Sarawak,” he said in his ministerial winding-up yesterday.

He also pointed out this would include Mukah and Kapit to ensure the delivery of services to the community could be implemented effectively and efficiently.
