KUALA LUMPUR: The government has been looking after the welfare of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) veterans and has never neglected the group.
Through the Veterans Affairs Department (JHEV), the government is still continuing all facilities as well assistance such as the Living Assistance Scheme, School Assistance Scheme, Admission Assistance to the Public University/Polytechnic, Patient Equipment Assistance, Disaster Relief Assistance and other aid.
JHEV director-general Maj Gen Datuk Dzulkarnain Ahmad said allegations by the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Reformation Movement (GRVATM) that the Defence Ministry did not have any plans for veterans were baseless.
He said the National Veterans Council which held its first meeting on Dec 24 and soon in Feb is a platform to discuss problems and plans as well as new ideas for the benefit of ATM veterans.
“Veterans who are facing problems or wish to raise any issues should present them via proper channels,” he said in a statement yesterday.
On Friday, GRVATM demanded the Pakatan Harapan government to declare plans and initiatives to improve the welfare as well as the living status of veterans who were allegedly marginalised by earlier government. –Bernama
