KUCHING: Christmas is a time to embrace the values of love with family and friends, seek forgiveness, and strengthen the bonds of sincere brotherhood.

The Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, said the festive season is a time for reflection and gratitude, peace and harmony.

“Let us together offer our utmost gratitude for the blessings of peace and harmony that we enjoy in our beloved homeland,” he said.

Wan Junaidi added that Sarawak’s reputation for its extraordinary unity, despite its diverse ethnicities, religions, and traditions, is a testament to the strength of its people.

He stressed that the concept of inclusivity within diversity is the strength of Sarawak’s society, leading to the adoption of the ‘one family’ value.

This unity, he said, built on respect for each other’s cultures and beliefs, has fostered a harmonious coexistence.

“The differences in our lives, cultures, and beliefs should not divide us but strengthen our bonds as a community that values mutual respect and cooperation.

“I believe we have become one family that cares for each other’s welfare and needs. With the support of all Sarawakians, we will continue to thrive as a harmonious community,” he added.

As the festive season coincides with increased travel, the Sarawak Governor reminded those returning to their hometowns to prioritize road safety.

“Drive carefully and practice courteous driving. Remember, the safety of yourself and your loved ones is paramount,” he said.

He also urged commercial vehicle drivers to adhere to traffic regulations and avoid reckless driving.

“Respect other road users and refrain from rushing to meet schedules. Safety must always be our top priority,” he stressed.

He also encouraged Sarawakians to reflect on the year’s achievements and prioritize physical and mental well-being.

This festive season, he added, is a time to express gratitude and share joy with loved ones.

“May this Christmas bring happiness, peace, and safety to all. Celebrate with joy and gratitude, and may 2025 bring greater blessings and success as we strive to make Sarawak a progressive, harmonious, and competitive region.
