KUCHING: The Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, received a courtesy call from the new Sarawak State Health Department (JKNS) director, Dr Veronica Lugah, at Astana Negeri Sarawak on Monday.
The courtesy visit marked Dr Veronica’s first since her appointment as the JKNS director on February 7.
The purpose of the meeting was to introduce herself and discuss the future direction of JKNS and related topics.
Dr Veronica made history as the first Dayak woman of Iban descent to be appointed director of JKNS by the Ministry of Health (MoH) Malaysia.
She succeeded Dr Ooi Choo Huck, who retired on January 31.
Before her current appointment, Dr Veronica served as the State Health Deputy Director (Public Health) and subsequently assumed the role of Acting State Health Director following Dr Ooi’s retirement.
