KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi attended a special ‘majlis bersungkei’ (pre-iftar gathering) with the Saadah extended family at Dewan Santapan, Surau Astana Negeri Sarawak, on Thursday evening.

Following the sunnah (tradition) of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the iftar commenced with dates and water, followed by light refreshments before the congregation performed Maghrib prayers together.

After prayers, guests enjoyed a main meal in a warm and harmonious atmosphere, reinforcing the long-established familial ties among the Saadah family members.

The gathering was attended by over 300 family members from various districts, including Sibu, Betong, Sebuyau, Simunjan, Kota Samarahan, Kampung Pendam, Tabuan and Kuching.

As a gesture of goodwill and appreciation, duit raya (festive allowances) were distributed to family members, especially children, to further enliven the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations.

Wan Junaidi expressed his gratitude for the presence of relatives who were able to attend the gathering and hoped that such events would continue to serve as a platform for strengthening family bonds and fostering closer relationships among members of the Saadah family.
