SIBU: The General Operations Force (GOF) seized 400 logs of various types worth RM5.7 million in an operation codenamed Ops Taring Libas at Jalan Selangau here yesterday.
Sarawak GOF Brigade Commander, SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang, said the raid, which took place at around 10.00 am, involved a team of police personnel from the Intelligence Branch of Battalion 10 PGA Sibu.
“During the raid, the team arrested four local men aged between 38 and 61, along with two Indonesian men aged between 32 and 47.
“Further inspection at the site uncovered 400 logs of various types,” he said in a statement today.
He added that one vehicle, two excavators and one bulldozer found at the location were also seized.
“The arrests and seizures have been handed over to the Bintulu branch of the Forest Department for further action and investigation.
“The case is being investigated under the Sarawak Forest Department Ordinance 2015 and Section 6(1)(C) of the Immigration Act 1959/63,” he added.
Che Ghazali also said since the commencement of Ops Taring by the Sarawak GOF Brigade from January 1 to April 14, 2025, the brigade has recorded total successes worth RM214 million.
“A total of 99 cases have been recorded, involving the arrest of 239 individuals (176 locals and 63 foreigners) and the seizure of 146 vehicles of various types,” he said.
