ENGKILILI: Items worth an estimated RM154,450 were seized following a raid on an illegal cockfighting gambling den here by the General Operations Force (GOF) 10th Battalion on Sunday.

GOF Sarawak Brigade commander SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang said the raid, at around 1.30 pm, also led to the arrest of 10 local men aged between 35 and 78.

“Among the items seized were seven fighting cocks, various gambling paraphernalia, and a four-wheel-drive vehicle,” he said in a statement today (March 24).

All the suspects, along with the confiscated items, had been handed over to Lubok Antu police for further investigation.

“The case is being investigated under the Veterinary Public Health Ordinance 1999 and Section 7(2) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953,” he said.

Che Ghazali urged the public to report any illegal gambling activities as they continue efforts to clamp down on such operations.
