BAU: The Sarawak General Operations Force (GOF) foiled an attempt by two men to smuggle 800 boxes of frozen chicken sausages out of the state during a special operation.

According to Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department, the operation, codenamed ‘Ops Taring Awas/Batas’, was carried out by the GOF 11th Battalion on Wednesday.

“The smuggling attempt was detected along a plantation route in Kampung Stass near the Malaysia-Indonesia border.

“It led to the arrest of two local men and the seizure of a lorry with a 7.5-tonne load, 800 boxes of frozen chicken sausages, and three phones,” the department said.

The seized items were valued at an estimated RM427,800.

Both suspects and the seized goods were handed over to the District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 17(1) of the Veterinary Public Health Ordinance 1999.
