KUCHING: Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong yesterday encouraged parents to be involved in schools and contribute their ideas for the betterment of the schools as well as their children.

In his speech at the Datu Patinggi Abang Haji Abdillah College (DPAH) Excellence Awards Presentation Ceremony held at Yayasan Sarawak Hall, Manyin also shared with the school and the public three three main factors for academic success.

They were involvement of parents, involvement of students and involvement of teachers . “Success is not that easy because what determines tomorrow is what you do today and success is not for sale even though it has a price which includes your time, determination and sacrifices,” added Manyin.

Congratulating the students on their graduation, the Minister said: “You still have a long way to go and after this, you will entering either Form Six, matriculation or universities.

“You will be taught to be independent, flexible and adaptable so that you can survive anywhere.
“As time passes by, you also will be competing with the whole world, particularly when embarking on the 4.0 revolution.

“Therefore, prepare yourself and determine what you want to be in the future and go for quality education,” he said.

During the Datu Patinggi Abang Haji Abdillah College (DPAH) Excellence Awards Presentation Ceremony, 154 students received the graduation scrolls as well as awards which included Best Performance in Class and Best Subjects.

Also presented were four main awards, namely, Curriculum Award (Anugerah Permata Gemilang Wira), Leadership Award (Anugerah Permata Gemilang Waja), Academic Award (Anugerah Permata Gemilang Bestari) and Overall Award (Anugerah Permata Gemilang Perdana).

The recipients of the four main awards were Muhammad Yazzid Othman (Curriculum Award), Abang Muhammad Dailami Hj Abang Faisal (Leadership Award), Awang Shahrizan Awang Abd Rahman (Academic Award) and Nur Amirah Ibrahim (Overall Award).
