KUCHING: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to announce the party’s Sarawak candidates for the 15th General Election (GE15) on Nov 1.
PKR Sarawak vice president Dr Michael Teo said the party president will visit the state and make the announcement on that day.
“Anwar will visit Sabah on Oct 31 and on Nov 1, he will announce the list of PKR candidates in Sarawak at that time,” he said in a Facebook post yesterday (Oct 29).
Dr Teo, who is also the Miri incumbent, said Anwar will fly from Kota Kinabalu to Kuching on November 1, followed by Miri later on the day.
“He will (attend) an event in Kuching in the afternoon, and (attend) the swearing assembly to be held in front of PKR Miri branch office at 7pm.
“There, he will announce the list of candidates for northern Sarawak,” he said.
Apart from Anwar, he said Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders including AMANAH chairman Mohamad Sabu and Democratic Action Party (DAP) secretary-general Anthony Loke are also expected to be present.
“According to PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli, once the party’s list of candidates is released, voters can log on to the www.calonkeadilan.org to learn about the candidates’ background, including the candidates’ declaration assets.
“At the same time, the candidates’ personal information and the background will be distributed to voters in the relevant parliamentary constituencies through WhatsApp and social networks,” he said.
