KUCHING: A minister applauded the success of the Gawai Bazaar 2022 which provided opportunities to the locals, particularly the natives, to make money.

Datuk John Sikie Tayai, the Minister in the Premier’s Department, said the event helped entrepreneurs to make profit and contribute to the economy.

“This is very encouraging and I am happy to see that the bazaar, even on the final day, is still full of people buying food and handicrafts from our local entrepreneurs.

“Throughout this nine days, I was told by the organising committee that the total sale amounted to more than RM800,000.

“Maybe on this last day of the bazaar, it has reached over RM1 million already, so this is very good,” he told the media after closing the bazaar at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) community hall compound, on Sunday (June 26).

A member of the organising committee, Daleton Nilie Nunong, said the bazaar made a total sale of RM804,154.95 over nine days.
