MIRI: Galong Luang has officially taken over as the new Resident of Miri Division, effective January 2. He succeeds Jamalie Busri, who previously held the position.

A symbolic handover ceremony was held at the Miri Division Resident’s Office yesterday (Jan 2), witnessed by senior officers of the division’s administration.

The former Kapit Resident has pledged to prioritise integrity and professionalism in driving the development agenda for Miri.

He stressed the importance of teamwork in ensuring that the community benefitted from the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, a key initiative by the Sarawak government aimed at achieving advanced region status by 2030.

“We must work together as a cohesive team to deliver meaningful development that improves the lives of the people,” he was quoted as saying.

Earlier in the day, Galong met community leaders at the Miri Community Leaders’ Office.

He also held engagement sessions with representatives from the District Offices of Miri, Subis, Telang Usan and Marudi, fostering collaboration and unity among the various administrative units.
