KUCHING: The contributions of 312 soon-to-be retirees from the State Health Department (JKNS) were put on record yesterday in a ceremony held at Penview Convention Centre (PCC) Demak here.
Its director Dr Jamilah Hashim stated that the purpose of the event was to show the government’s appreciation for the contribution and dedication of the staff members for their services to the department.
“While the experience of each individual here may be different, I believe the combined experiences of our senior staff can be shared with the newly appointed ones so that they can work and perform tasks more efficiently in meeting the expectations of the public sector,” she said when officiating at the ceremony.
She reminded that retirement is an opportunity to discover something new, adding that they have to be prepared to adapt to their new life.
She also believed that some of the soon-to-be-retirees have already made plans such as relaxing and spending quality time with their loved ones.
“The time with family members and relatives which were ‘stolen’ or lost or sacrificed for our past service needs to be ‘replaced’ by the time we have now, apart from spending time doing activities which can add value to society,” she continued.
Dr Jamilah further revealed that she will also follow suit in retiring next year. When prompted for an update of the haze situation in the state, she refused to comment and brushed reporters aside.
