KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 78 artworks produced by local artists are on display at the Brushes of Joy exhibition at Artavern, Art Space, La Promenade Mall, here.
The exhibition is organised for charity, with funds raised to support students with special needs and the underprivileged.
According to Olivia Ting, executive director of Hotel Meritin, the funds raised through this programme would be donated to D’Wira Kuching Education Association and the Serian Community Rehabilitation Organisation (PDK).
Olivia also mentioned that eight well-known local artists, comprising David Chew, Angelina Bong, Ng Paik San, Clement Jimel, Gerald Goh, Kho Ah Tong, Dexter Lim, and Nia Latif, have contributed to the exhibition.
These artists donated artworks and shared their knowledge through art workshops held over the past two months, attracting participants of all ages and skill levels.
In addition to the art exhibition, the event featured a Christmas choir performance by the Hope Church Choir and a lucky draw with attractive prizes sponsored by Responsible Borneo Sdn Bhd and KopiLab Sarawak.
Datuk Sebastian Ting, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts, who officiated at the exhibition, emphasised that events like this are crucial in promoting Sarawak as a hub for creative tourism.
“I believe initiatives like this enhance Sarawak’s appeal, not only for its natural beauty but also for its creative performances and cultural richness,” he said.
Olivia also announced that the exhibition would be extended until the end of January, depending on circumstances.
