KUCHING: The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Sarawak Southern Zone Branches Delegates Meeting is expected to host approximately 2,500 delegates and observers from various branches today (Jan 19).
The event, which will be held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) at 11 am, will be officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also the PBB president.
In preparation for the event, Sarawak Tribune observed on-site that preparations were in full swing. The Great Hall has been arranged with rows of chairs for participants and adorned with PBB flags.
The surrounding BCCK compound is set to host exhibitions showcasing programmes and community activities organised by the participating branches.
It is reported that the meeting will bring together delegates from 26 branches across the Southern Zone, with 14 branches based in Kuching and the remaining located in areas outside the city.
The deputy chief of the PBB Batu Kitang branch, Sahferi Tambi, said that 43 members from their branch will be attending the event.
“From Batu Kitang, there will be 13 members from the main (Bapa), 10 Youth, 10 Women, and three from the 1828 Belia wings,” he said when met with Sarawak Tribune while visiting the hall yesterday (Jan 18) to ensure arrangements and preparations were running smoothly.
PBB Tupong Youth secretary and member of the event management committee, Amat Sapuani, said that preparations had been underway since Friday (Jan 17).
“For PBB Tupong, it is understood that around 80 representatives will attend.
“So far, the logistics team has arranged approximately 2,500 seats for the guests attending the event,” he added.
Regarding the programme, Amat said that a rehearsal had been conducted on Friday night (Jan 17).
“Thank God, the rehearsal went smoothly, with representatives from each branch also showing support to ensure the event runs well,” he said.
Meanwhile, PBB Samariang Youth chief Syed Zyed Wan Asnawi said that this meeting would be slightly different, incorporating digital elements in the way information is delivered.
“I have attended the rehearsal, and there were slight changes, unlike previous events.
“For PBB Samariang, 78 members will be attending,” he said.
For the record, it was reported that the rehearsal had concluded successfully.
Also present at the rehearsal were the chief political secretary to the Premier, Datuk Fazruddin Abdul Rahman, and Stakan assemblyman Datuk Hamzah Ibrahim.
