SEBUYAU: The appointment of a new line-up of councillors for the Sebuyau District Council is a strategic and significant step towards strengthening local governance and enhancing the effectiveness of service delivery to the people.
Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi said the appointment brings a new dimension to local administration, particularly with the inclusion of more young representatives with strong potential to contribute fresh ideas and energy towards the development of the district.
“The new appointment of councillors is not merely symbolic, but a clear signal that we are serious about fostering a governance model that is more inclusive, dynamic and people-centric.
“The participation of young representatives in the Sebuyau District Council is a step towards empowering youth to be more actively involved in the management and development of their local communities,” he said during the Sebuyau Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri celebration recently.
Julaihi said this aligns with the Sarawak government’s aspirations to cultivate a line-up of grassroots leaders who are capable, have integrity, and are closely connected to the people’s needs.
The Sebuyau assemblyman added that the appointment of these councillors is expected to strengthen ties between the community and government agencies, and help expedite the implementation of development and social initiatives at the district level.
The Sebuyau Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri celebration was attended by over 1,500 guests, including heads of state and federal agencies, community leaders, and local residents.
Also present were Samarahan Division Resident representative Anuar Da’an, Sebuyau District officer Ayuradiman Bujang, and Sebuyau District Council secretary Oldrige Ripat Eric.
