Free rabies vaccination for cats in Kuching

KUCHING: In an effort to curb the spread of rabies, the Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) and the Global Alliance for Rabies Control (GARC) are offering free rabies vaccinations for cats here.

The campaign aims to administer free rabies vaccinations to approximately 250 cats, reinforcing efforts to curb the spread of rabies in the region. 

To qualify for the free vaccination, cat owners must register their pets through the Rabies App and provide proof of registration. 

All cats must be securely placed in a cage or carrier upon arrival at the vaccination site. 

Only healthy cats that are at least three months old are eligible, and each household is allowed up to three cats for free vaccinations while additional cats can still receive the vaccine at a subsidised rate of RM45 per cat.

The campaign will be conducted on Feb 5, 11, 13, 18, 19 and 28 between 9 am and 11.30 am at AnyPets Vet Clinic, located at No. 45, Ground Floor, Lot 20145, Block 11, Milan Square, Jalan Wan Alwi, 93350 Kuching. 

Additionally, pet owners can also opt for the core vaccinations for their cats at a subsidised rate of RM30 per cat, which provides an added layer of protection against other common feline diseases. 

Appointments for the campaign are strictly by booking only and must be made through the SSPCA WhatsApp at 016 536 9322. 

Cat owners are encouraged to use the Rabies App, to help track vaccinations, and enhance rabies prevention efforts in the community, and ensures timely booster shots and provides an easy way to manage vaccination records, contributing to the effort of controlling rabies.
