“This year’s festival holds special significance as we celebrate a decade of bringing the magic of country music to the beautiful seaside landscapes of Miri.

“Moreover, I am thrilled to announce that its admission will be free for everyone as a token of appreciation for the unwavering support by fans from Miri and beyond that has made MCMF a resounding success over the years.”

Ministry permanent secretary Datuk Sherrina Hussaini read Abdul Karim’s text speech at a press conference here yesterday. Abdul Karim highlighted that MCMF has always offered a unique musical experience, and this year is no exception.

“There will be a diverse lineup of nine bands from the USA, Vietnam, Malaysia, as well as local bands from Sarawak. These talented artists will grace the MCMF stage, bringing soulful sounds of country music to our audiences.

“In addition to that, there will be more and more local bands, young and old, who will showcase their musical talent to a bigger audience during this festival.”

Beyond the musical performances, he noted that the festival grounds will showcase local crafts, arts, and cuisines, providing a unique opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the cultural richness of the region.

He also mentioned the continuation of the Buku Project, a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative introduced last year.

“We invite everyone, the local community as well as festival attendees, to join us in this meaningful endeavour by donating SHERRINA (centre) and the organising committee members from Place Borneo. one or more books before or during the festival.

“These books will be distributed to rural schools in need, contributing to the advancement of literacy within our rural communities.”

As a highlight for the 10th anniversary, Abdul Karim announced the free 5km Fun Run for festival goers and the community. “The fun run will be held along the Marina Park near Coco Cabana on Day 2 of MCMF and will begin at 5 pm before the live festival music begins at night.”

Abdul Karim noted that these activities and programmes are organised because the MCMF holds a special place in the hearts of both locals and visitors.

“As the first-ever country and western music festival in Malaysia, we should continue to not only make it a celebration of music but also a significant calendar event that boosts tourist arrivals and establishes Miri as not only a thriving resort city but also a hub to host international events.

“Let us come together to make this milestone celebration a testament to the power of music in uniting people and fostering a sense of belonging.”
