KUCHING: The Sarawak government’s unwavering focus on empowering the education sector will enhance access to education and serve as a catalyst for the state’s socio-economic development and progress.

Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar expressed full support for Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s initiative to offer free education in all state public higher education institutions (IPTAs) by 2026.

“With education accessible to all Sarawakians, I hope that every segment of society will experience improved income, a better quality of life, enhanced healthcare, and overall well-being through the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030. This strategy emphasizes renewable energy, the digital economy, AI technology, and sustainable development,” he said.

In his message for Hari Raya, Wan Junaidi also urged the people not to forget the sacrifices and contributions of the security forces, healthcare personnel, and civil servants in Sarawak.

“During every celebration, they dutifully ensure the safety and security of our people and nation.

“As we celebrate Aidilfitri, let us not overlook the less privileged, orphans, elderly, persons with disabilities, and especially the people of Palestine in Gaza, who are facing humanitarian crises and severe challenges.

“Let us collectively pray and hope to Allah SWT that this situation will soon come to an end,” he said.

“Lastly, my family and I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin,” he added.

Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi will hold an open house on the first day of Hari Raya at the Astana Negeri Sarawak from 9 am to 4.30 pm.
