Four robbery suspects detained

MIRI: Three men and a woman were detained on Saturday night to assist police probe on a robbery case which happened at Taman Tunku.

The robbery was alleged to have happened at a house in Taman Tunku at 10am on Friday.

The four were picked up by a team from Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) during a raid held on Saturday between 11pm and 11.30pm following a public tip-off.

An iron bar believed to have been used by the suspects in the alleged robbery was also seized.

According to sources, the suspects had allegedly threatened their victim with the iron bar before they fled from the scene with RM1,200.

The suspects in their late 20s and 30s had used the iron bar as a prop in the robbery which made the victim believed that it was a ‘gun’ by wrapping the 61-centimetre long iron bar with newspapers.

Fearing for his safety, the victim handed over the cash to the robbers.

The victim later lodged a police report on the incident.

The case is being investigated under Section 395 and 397 for gang and armed robbery.

The suspects are being detained at Miri Central Police station.
