KUCHING: A total of four new bridges across Sarawak have been completed and officially opened as of March.
According to an infographic shared by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the first bridge to be completed and opened this year was the Marudi Bridge in January, followed by the Muara Lassa Bridge in February, and the Bintulu-Jepak and Batang Rajang Bridges in March.
Additionally, seven more bridges are expected to be finished in the second half of this year.
These include the Batang Saribas Bridge (May), Sungai Lingga Bridge (June), Batang Igan Bridge (November), and the Batang Lupar 1 Bridge, Sungai Limbang Bridge, Sebauh Bridge and Sejingkat Bridge (December).
Another four bridges are anticipated to be completed in the first quarter of 2026.
These include the Batang Paloh Bridge (February), and the Batang Krian Bridge, Batang Lupar 2 and Batang Saribas 2.
The statewide bridge construction projects are part of an initiative led by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
