KUCHING: A Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration turned into a terrifying ordeal when the floor of a house in Kampung Goebilt, Muara Tebas, suddenly collapsed, injuring four people.

The incident occurred on the first day of Hari Raya yesterday (Mar 31), with ten people inside the house when disaster struck.

Firefighters from Tabuan Jaya station rushed to the scene, about 22km away, after receiving a distress call at 11.10 am. Bako auxiliary firefighters also responded to the incident after being alerted.

The injured victims were two men, both 20, and two girls, aged 17 and 11. They were taken to the hospital before rescue teams arrived.

One victim sustained a broken leg, while another suffered head injury and is currently unconscious. The other two are undergoing medical examinations.

Upon further checks, rescue teams confirmed that the house’s structure was still safe despite the partial collapse.

At around 3 pm, the Civil Defence Force (APM) said family members affected by the floor collapse have been evacuated to a temporary relief centre (PPS) at Dewan Datuk Seri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi in the village.
