KABONG: Schools have the potential to promote love and harmony among different races through various community programs, such as breaking the fast.

According to Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said schools, community members, and elected representatives should work together to develop education through community programmes.

“I fully support the Jom Sungkei program organized by SK Perpat, the Village Development and Safety Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Perpat, and the Kalaka Service Centre.

“Seeing a multiracial community attending the program, such as the residents of Rumah Panjang Tanjung, shows that schools are not just for formal education but also for nurturing a sense of unity, love, and harmony, regardless of age or race,” said Mohamad while attending the Jom Bersungkei programme at SK Perpat recently.

Over 600 guests attended the program despite the rain.

Mohamad also added that he received a request for a new multipurpose hall at SK Perpat. He promised the school that the state government would allocate RM400,000 next year to upgrade the hall.

“God willing, the state government is ready to upgrade the school’s multi-purpose hall which is getting old with an allocation of RM400,000 next year.

“This is my commitment as a representative of the people to help the school. I believe that any facilities requested by the school are considered important.

“However, because allocations for example under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) are distributed to all areas, we plan according to priority and carefully,” he added.

He also mentioned that other needs in the village are also always being given serious attention.

During the same ceremony, Mohamad presented Hari Raya donations to 22 orphans, bringing joy and happiness to their upcoming Aidilfitri celebration.

Saratok District Officer Haron Mahidi, headmaster of SK Kampung Perpat Norila Gani, Saratok District Council (MDS) Councillor Saee Ason along with community leaders and tuai rumah, were among the guests at the event.
