SARATOK: Five foreign men were injured after their multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) rear-ended a lorry along the Sarikei-Saratok Pan Borneo Highway today.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Sarikei station were deployed to the scene near Bukit Sebangkoi, about 21km away, after receiving a call at 8.09 am.
Upon arrival, they discovered that four victims had managed to exit the vehicle on their own before firefighters arrived.
Meanwhile, the fifth victim was carefully assisted out of the vehicle using a stretcher although he was not trapped.
All the victims received treatment on-site before being transported to Sarikei Hospital in two ambulances. The extent of their injuries was not known.
The lorry driver escaped unharmed in the collision.
The team wrapped up the rescue operation at 8.55 am.
