MIRI: Police here yesterday (June 3) arrested a foreigner suspected to be involved in several burglary cases around the city.

Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu in a statement, said the 23-year-old male suspect was arrested during ‘Ops Pintu/Ops Gawai’ around 3am.

The district’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) unit found the suspect behind a shop in Morsjaya and detained him for inspections.

Results led to the seizures of various implements for burglary activities.

Apart from that, the suspect was also found to be without any identity documents on him.

The suspect is currently placed in Miri Central Police Station lock-up for further action, the local police chief said..

The case is being investigated under Section 35 (G) of the Sarawak Minor Offence Ordinance 1958 and Section 6 (1) (c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

The foreign man has arrested and is now placed in Miri Central Police Station lock-up.
