MALUDAM: A foreign barge sailor is feared drowned after falling into Batang Lupar River near Triso Ferry pier last Saturday (Oct 31).
The victim, identified as Saif Ali, 21, an Indian national, was reported to have slipped and fell off the barge while refuelling the water pump engine at about 5.30pm.
The operations centre of the Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call at 9.08pm
A search and rescue (SAR) operation was mounted on Sunday (Nov 1).
As at press time, the victim is yet to be found.
