SIBU: SUPP’s Bawang Assan branch chairman Kevin Lau, visited Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Kwong Hua to assess the flood situation and its impact on students taking the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

He said the visit aimed to ensure students and teachers received the necessary support.

“With exams continuing until 5pm today and the school canteen closed, we have worked with the principal to arrange meals for the students sitting for SPM and the teachers on duty,” he said in a statement on Monday (Jan 13).

Earlier, the Sibu Civil Defence Force (APM) facilitated the transportation of two teachers, three examination officers, and seven SPM candidates to the school after a request from SMK Kwong Hua due to flooding.

The students and their teachers, who had been waiting at Tang Restaurant in Sungai Bidut, were assisted by Penghulu Wong Ung and Kapitan Chew Hoo Kiong.

Lau expressed hope that flood conditions would improve by Wednesday, when the next round of exams is scheduled.
