MIRI: Seven areas in Marudi experienced flooding on Friday due to a combination of high tides and intermittent heavy rainfall between January 13 and 18.
The affected areas include Kampung Padang Kerbau, Pekan Marudi, Kampung Cina, Kampung Dagang, Kampung Ridan, Kampung Narum, and Jalan Raya Sungai Arang, which recorded the highest water level at 1 foot.
The Marudi District Civil Defence Force (APM) reported that the flooding resulted from rising river waters during high tide and consistent rainfall.
APM personnel have been deployed to monitor the situation in affected areas.
At the time of writing, no temporary evacuation centres (PPS) have been opened.
The water levels are showing a downward trend, and the current weather conditions are dry.
Residents are urged to stay vigilant and monitor water level trends, evacuating immediately if conditions become unsafe.
Authorities have assured the public that the situation is under control.
