SARATOK: Two floodgate upgrading projects worth a total of RM5.2 million will be implemented as an effort to address the recurring flood issues in Kampung Perpat and Kampung Paloh here.
The projects, as initiatives under the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA), will involve an allocation of RM3.6 million for Kampung Perpat and RM1.6 million for Kampung Paloh.

It will be carried out by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Sarawak.
Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri said the upgrading of the floodgates is crucial to protect villagers from the frequent floods affecting the area.
He said this when officiating at the site handover ceremony for the implementation of the project during an event at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kampung Perpat Hall recently.
In addition to the floodgate project, Mohamad said the Sri Pinang Hall will be upgraded, with Saratok District Council being the implementing agency.
Later, he also took the opportunity to break fast with residents and distributed ‘duit raya’ to the needy (asnaf).
