SIBU: A late-night drive for five friends took a terrifying turn when their pickup truck veered off the road and crashed into a streetlight pole along Jalan Sibu-Bintulu this morning.
The driver was severely injured while the four other passengers sustained minor injuries.
Fire and Rescue Department Zone 4 chief Andy Alie said the Sibu Jaya fire station received an emergency call at 12.14 am and immediately despatched a team to the scene.
“The pickup truck veered off the road and crashed into a streetlight pole.
“There were five victims in the vehicle and they were rescued by the public,” he said in a statement today.
Andy said the driver, who sustained severe injuries to his hand, was treated by paramedics at the scene.
