Five hunted for slashing father, son in Siburan parang attack

SIBURAN: A manhunt is underway for five men who allegedly slashed a workshop owner and his son with machetes yesterday (Apr 12).

The attack, which occurred at around 9.39 am, at a heavy machinery workshop along Jalan Kuching-Serian.

Padawan police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi confirmed that they received a report about the incident at 9.55 am.

“Both victims, aged 30 and 54, sustained injuries to their hands and legs.

“Efforts are currently underway by the state and district’s Crime Investigation Department (CID) to track down the suspects,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons.

CCTV footage showed the group, dressed in black coats and masks, arriving in two cars before launching the violent attack on the victims.

The victims were initially rushed to Serian Hospital before being referred to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment.
