KUCHING: The number of flood and landslide victims at the temporary evacuation centres (PPS) across Sarawak has risen to 508 as of 4 pm, compared to 347 at 8 am today (21 March).
In a statement today, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) reported the opening of one more flood-related PPS, namely Kapit Civic Centre, where 38 victims have been evacuated.
In total, five PPS have been activated for floods, with three recording an increase in victims, while one remains unchanged.
The three centres with increased numbers are Asrama Belia Kapit (79 victims), Dewan Kompleks Sukan Kanowit (100 victims), and Balai Raya Song (201 victims), while the number of victims at Dewan Komuniti Sibu Jaya remains at seven.
Meanwhile, two other PPS, namely Dewan Masyarakat Kampung Bahagia Jaya Teku in Sibu, and Dewan Kampung Sukan in Miri, are sheltering 43 and 40 victims, respectively, following landslides.
