KUCHING: The spiritual journey for the first group of Sarawak pilgrims concluded as they touched down safely at Kuching International Airport (LTAK) last night (Jul 12).

The KT70Q flight, carrying 141 pilgrims, landed at 8.30pm, marking the end of their pilgrimage and a memorable reunion with loved ones.

Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi personally greeted the returning pilgrims, celebrating their safe return and successful completion of the Hajj.

He noted that this was just the beginning of the homecoming for Sarawak’s pilgrims.

“There are four more return flights scheduled, arriving early on July 13, 14, and 18,” he said to reporters.

Reflecting on the scale of this year’s pilgrimage, he added, “Alhamdulillah, a total of 972 pilgrims from Sarawak, managed by Tabung Haji, performed the Hajj this year.

“Sadly, we lost two of our fellow pilgrims in the holy land. The remaining 970 pilgrims are expected to return home by the 18th of this month.”

He also expressed hope that these returning pilgrims will inspire others within the Muslim community of Sarawak.

“I encourage our returning pilgrims to continue their Islamic missionary work, motivating more Muslims in Sarawak to undertake the Hajj,” he added.
