SIBU: A man had his four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle, which belonged to his company, stolen on the first day of the Chinese New Year.

On Tuesday (Feb 1), while celebrating with his family, the 67-year-old noticed that his company’s 4WD under his care wass missing.

The vehicle was parked behind a hotel in Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman and it was suspected to have been stolen at 7.30am.

Acting Sibu OCPD Supt Dr Collin Babat, when contacted on Thursday (Feb 3), confirmed the incident after the man lodged a report at the Sibu Central police station.

He added: “The result of police monitoring in the surrounding area – we found that there was only one house opposite the scene having CCTV.

“Efforts to locate the suspects and the missing vehicle are underway,” he said, classifying the case under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
