SIBU: Lions International District 308-A2 Region 2 and 3 Lions Clubs yesterday joined forces to render relief aids to victims whose houses at Lorong Kwong Tung here were destroyed in a fire recently.
These included donation of monetary fund, food, hardware and other daily necessities to the affected families.
Region 2 and 3 Lion Clubs consisted of Sibu Host, Sibu Mandarin, Sibu Seduan, Sibu Central, Sibu Pahlawan, Sibu Berjaya, Sibu City, Sibu Jaya, Sibu Sungai Merah, Sibu Bawang Assan, Sibu Nangka, Sibu Queensway, Sibu Lanang, Sibu Dudong, Sibu Rejang, Sibu Loving Care, Sarikei, Bintangor and Kapit.
The District 308-A2 Foundation also allocated RM5,000 for the purchase of daily necessities materials and fund for the victims.
Present to hand over the contributions were District 308-A2 Foundation chairperson Kapitan Connie Loh Ming Hua and district chairperson for Alert, Datuk Jimmy Tie, who is also the organising chairman.
In the fire incident on May 21, which claimed the life of a 72-year-old woman and rendered 20 occupants homeless, seven houses along Lorong Kwong Tung were gutted.
