Fire razes grocery store

SIBURAN: Fire broke out at a grocery store at Mile 13, Jalan Kuching-Serian on Monday evening (Dec 9), destroying 80 per cent of the premises.
The Siburan and Batu Lintang fire stations were alerted to the incident at 4.29 pm and dispatched firefighters to the scene, approximately 22km away.
Upon arrival, they found the ground floor of the three-storey shophouse engulfed in flames.
They battled the blaze using water from a nearby fire hydrant and brought the fire under control by 5.10 pm.
Overhaul operations were conducted to prevent re-ignition.
Thankfully, the second and third floors of the building, as well as neighbouring shoplots, were spared from damage.
No injuries or casualties were reported.
The operation ended at 6.42 pm.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damages are currently under investigation.
