MIRI: A fire broke out in the dry kitchen of a house at Jalan Dato Permaisuri 5B on Saturday morning, prompting a swift response from local fire services.

The incident occurred with five occupants present in the home.

The Lutong fire station, led by fire chief Henry Jugah, received a distress call at 11.33 am and immediately dispatched a team to the scene.

Upon arrival, the firemen found that the blaze had affected approximately two per cent of the property’s fence structure and five per cent of a Toyota Fortuner vehicle.

Fortunately, the homeowner managed to contain and extinguish the fire using water from a garden hose before it could spread further.

The prompt action managed to prevent more extensive damage and possible injuries.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the fire department.

No injuries were reported, and the residents were safely evacuated.

Henry praised the homeowner’s quick thinking and effective use of a hose to manage the situation until professional help arrived.
