KUCHING: A fire broke out at a building at Taman Janting, Jalan Batu Kawa here this afternoon (Mar 3).
The State Fire and Rescue Department’s (Bomba) operations centre said the fire department was initially led to believe that the fire broke out at a residential building in the area according to a distress call received at 1.52pm.
However, it was found that the building was a vase processing and storage facility.
“The caller said the fire involved a house which was almost destroyed. The fire brigade was immediately directed to the scene,” it said in a statement.
The operations centre said the single-storey non-permanent structure was destroyed by the time the fire was extinguished.
It added that overhaul work is also being done at press time.
