KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here today (Sep 12) fined a local man  RM3,500 in default six months’ jail for committing mischief while intoxicated by damaging another road user’s car.

Alemon Achong, 40, pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 427 of the Penal Code before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Alwi.

According to the charge sheet, he and four other men, who are still at large, were accused of committing mischief by damaging a sedan car belonging to a 55-year-old male victim.

They committed the offence together in front of a shop at MJC Batu Kawa around 10 pm on September 5.

According to the facts of the case, the complainant, who is the son of the car owner, was reversing the vehicle when he was approached by an unknown man wearing a mask.

The man then kicked the car’s licence plate and broke it while another accomplice kicked the car door and dented it.

A police report was filed by the complainant for further action and investigation, which led to the arrest of the accused on September 7.

It is understood that the accused was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

The case was prosecuted by ASP Arman Ibrahim, while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
