KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s transformative leadership over the past eight years has been lauded for its far-reaching impact on the state’s development, particularly in social inclusivity and infrastructure growth.
Women, Childhood, and Community Well-being Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the Premier’s innovative approach to revenue engineering has enabled Sarawak to generate substantial income.
This financial ingenuity has accelerated mega infrastructure projects and strengthened social support systems, ensuring no segment of society is left behind.
“The Premier’s maverick approach to revenue generation has been transformative, enabling Sarawak to achieve remarkable progress in infrastructure and social development,” she said.
Fatimah noted that the Premier’s policies have benefited vulnerable groups, including women, children, and rural communities.
She said the Premier’s commitment to initiatives that support Sarawakians ‘from cradle to grave’ is evident through programs such as the Endowment Fund Sarawak (EFS), Bantuan Ibu Bersalin (BIB), Bantuan Pesakit Buah Pinggang, Senior Citizen Health Benefits, and Bantuan Rawatan Kesihatan.
“Additionally, Geran Tahunan Khas and the Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS) also demonstrate a direct investment in the well-being of Sarawakians,” she added.
Fatimah, the Dalat assemblywoman, also emphasized the Premier’s commitment to education and women’s empowerment.
She noted that improved infrastructure has enhanced access to early childhood education for rural children and created better economic opportunities for women.
The implementation of the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 was another milestone of the Premier’s tenure, she said.
By embedding inclusivity into the state’s growth agenda, she said the strategy addresses poverty, gender equality, and community resilience while charting a sustainable path forward.
What sets the Premier apart is his vision rooted in fairness and unity, fostering a thriving Sarawak where progress is inclusive for everyone.
“His innovative financial strategies ensure sustained support for impactful initiatives, leaving a legacy of sustainable well-being for every Sarawakian,” said Fatimah.
