KUCHING: The Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Ministry has 1,035 strategic partners for the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) as at Dec 31, 2024.

Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said Kuching has the most, with a total of 289 strategic partners, with the latest partner being the Sweet Food Convenience Store at Kuching International Airport (KIA).

“That being said, we are also urging more private sector firms to partner us for the benefit of the KGC holders.

“The KGC holders are the senior citizen aged 60 and above, and having more strategic partners would mean more services can be enjoyed by them as well,” she said during a press conference after visiting the store here today.

On another note, Fatimah said there are 357,867 KGC holders across the state, with Kuching have the most at 101,394.

The KGC is one of the initiatives from the state government where its benefits extend beyond the aspect of health.

“There are various services provided by the private sector, such as retail shops, eateries, hotel services, and massage parlours.

“So, the range of services provided by the private sector is numerous, with all of them providing a discount for senior citizens ranging from five to 20 per cent,” she added.

Fatimah also expressed her appreciation towards the manager of Sweet F.D. Enterprise Jennifer Lim for willing to come on board and becoming the ministry’s latest strategic partners.
