KOTA SAMARAHAN: A local man was killed, while another was injured in a road accident at Mile 9, Kuching-Serian Road here today.
According to Kota Samarahan District Police Chief Superintendent Damataries Lautin, they received a report on the accident, involving two motorcycles, at 1.30 am.
“Initial investigations revealed that both motorcycles were heading towards Kuching when the victim reportedly braked suddenly due to a vehicle in front of him attempting to turn into a junction.
“As a result, the other motorcycle rear-ended the victim’s motorcycle, causing the victim to be thrown off and sustain severe injuries,” he said in a statement today.
Damataries said the victim, identified as Mohammad Nur Naqib Mohamad Jefferydin, 21, from Kampung Sri Arjuna, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
His body was later taken to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further action.
Meanwhile, the other rider, aged 18 and suffered minor injuries, was rushed to SGH for treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
