BELAGA: A lorry attendant died on the spot after the 12-tonne lorry laden with stones he was in skidded and crashed along Jalan Murum yesterday (Sept 30).
The victim has been identified as Chua Peng Yam, 70.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received an emergency call regarding the accident at 1.48pm.
Firemen from Belaga station along with the paramedics and police, were dispatched to the scene, about 140km from their station.
On arrival, they found that the lorry driver and his attendant, who was unconscious, were outside of the vehicle that landed on its side.

Both of them were taken to a safe location for assessment.
Chua was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and his body was handed over to the police to be taken to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the 41-year-old driver only sustained light injuries and was given initial treatment at the scene before he was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team concluded the operation at 10.48pm.
